Ability 1st is a Hartlepool based registered charity (225180) with aims to provide or assist in the provision of leisure time activities for people with learning disabilities, their families and their carers.
The charity founded in May 1965 is a membership based organisation is open to all those with or without a disability who support the aims and objectives of the charity.
We operate a number of different clubs and activities from our Church Street base.

Our Church Street Base
Our Church Street base consists of a number of rooms that lend themselves to a range of different activities.
Reception Room:- provides members access to modern computer systems
The TV Room:- a comfortable room with satellite TV and DVD player
The Craft Room:- supports a wide range of craft and art based activities.
The Quiet Room:- offers members the opportunity to participate in table top activities like cards, dominoes, etc.
The Loud Room:- supports the performing arts like disco, karaoke, drama and photography.
The Games Room:- offers pool, darts, television, music
